Resume and Biography


Griffin Wright has extensive experience with agency coordination, project management, fund development, grant management, public policy and community outreach. For the last 8 years, Mr. Wright has worked as a project manager/contract manager for Urban Design Center, assisting with project management, fund development and management, land use planning and community outreach for a variety of projects, including the Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement Project, Metro's SR-710 FWY Gap Closure Environmental and Conceptualization Study, the conversion of an abandoned three story apartment building into a 10 story boutique hotel in downtown Los Angeles, and the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles' (CRA/LA) $14.7 million Crenshaw Mid City Corridors Prop 1C project, among other projects.


For UDC, Mr. Wright is managing the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor’s Daniels Field Multipurpose Recreational Area in San Pedro. This involves administering $900,000 in Community Development Block Grant and Proposition 40 Urban Parks grants, as well as coordinating local agency agreements and contracts, facilitating city plan check, and managing contractor bidding and negotiations. Mr. Wright also writes grant applications, and manages three community outreach websites for Urban Design Center.

Prior to joining Urban Design Center, Mr. Wright worked for 3 years as a sub-consultant to CRA/LA, managing over $19 million in federal, state and local transportation grants. These grants funded a variety of projects, including pedestrian improvements, road and bridge construction, green transportation projects, public internet, and real-time parking information projects.

Mr. Wright has 8 years experience with the following tasks essential for pursuing and implementing government development grants:


  • Developing productive relationships with various state and local agencies, including Caltrans, the California Transportation Commission, Metro, the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, the City of Los Angeles Community Development Department, and the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks among others.
  • Meeting with property and business owners in project areas in order to receive their support for projects and obtain permits.
  • Applying for and obtaining environmental approval, right of way approval, authorizations to proceed, grant reimbursements, and project close outs from state and local government agencies for projects.
  • Gathering and analyzing census, environmental, right of way, and zoning data through project site visits and other research.
  • Preparing site maps, tract maps, hazardous materials maps and other maps.


Mr. Wright also has experience writing, interpreting, and implementing local government policy, including local hiring and minority hiring requirements. He assisted in the development of the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles’ Construction Careers & Project Stabilization Policy which requires contractors on Agency funded projects to hire local residents for construction jobs. Mr. Wright’s involvement included research on possible impacts of the policy during its development, assistance with writing the policy, and developing methods and forms to evaluate and track the effects and success of the policy.


Mr. Wright received a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of California, Berkeley.
